I fell in love with Mel Robbons’ wit, wisdom, and realness. Mel’s most recent book, The High Five Habit, launched in September 2021, took three years to write. The idea of high-fiving herself in the mirror came out of a moment of feeling despair, despondence, and just not her best. This powerful tool, which I’ve now been trying every morning (and ok, in the evenings too, because why not!?), is life-changing. It’s so simple yet so darn powerful. We’ve bought into the fallacy that we must DO something to be worthy. This belief is utter B.S. When you stand in front of the mirror, you drag your past resistance and opinions of self regret. You’re showing yourself a willingness to forgive yourself and see your humanity from a more positive, even divine lens.
