Reframing Perfectionism

John Lee Dumas, aka JLD, had interviewed thousands of entrepreneurs who share their biggest mistakes and the gold that has helped them serve at a higher level, and well, bring in a lot more moolah. JLD shared that one of the biggest mistakes you can make as an entrepreneur is hiding behind the word perfectionist. He shared that he used to categorize himself as a perfectionist and then realized it was actually a way to stay small, even be a coward, as he said. It’s time to reframe and look at being your best from a place of excellence but ditch perfectionism. It doesn’t exist and will hold you back. There is always room for self-improvement; the key is to find it.

The Ripple Effect

I asked about John Lee Dumas’ biggest why for what he does, and he explained that it’s to create what he calls the ripple effect. By interviewing top entrepreneurs every day, he can share incredible wisdom and allow his growing audience to listen, be inspired, and learn any time they want. This plethora of knowledge and support causes the ripple effect of self-improvement by growth, support, and success.

Be Proud of Saying No

I loved John Lee Dumas’ answer to the question I asked about his most proud accomplishment. He stated that he’s most proud of saying no because you have more room to say yes to what you really align with when you say no. By saying yes, you are saying no to all else. Be wise with your yeses and nos.

Final Thoughts

John Lee Dumas helped us see how easy it is to grow and expand as a person when you view others with a lens set to learning. JLD went into his interviews to gain insight and knowledge, which is exactly what he did. Then he used that insight to improve characteristics about himself, and his listeners have done the same. If we all took the time to view life this way, the whole world and every person within it, we would be so much wiser for it.
